Support to Training and Employment Programme for Women (STEP) [Central Scheme]
The Scheme aims to increase the self-reliance and autonomy of women by enhancing their productivity and enabling them to take up income generation activities. It provides training for skill upgradation to poor and asset less women in the traditional sectors viz; agriculture, animal husbandry, dairy development, fisheries, handloom, handicrafts, khadi, village industries, sericulture, social forestry and waste land development. The proposals received from the voluntary organization/ non-governmental organizations forwarded by the concerned administrative authority are forwarded to the concerned Ministry, Govt. of India for consideration/ sanction. So far, 35 nos. of proposals under the Scheme have been forwarded to the Ministry, Govt. of India, against which the Ministry has approved for sanction of Rs.28,00,000/- in favour of Medo Welfare Society, Itanagar for Dairy unit at Gensi under West Siang District during 2005-2006.
